    I love this little, inexpensive laying tool.  The shape with the flattened end is a burnisher, however, the design makes it very easy to handle and grip when laying the thread.  It is one piece of molded plastic and designed for Eyelet Embroidery but it has a multiple functions for embroidery. You will want more than one!
