This NAS was used in conjunction with a gigabit network switch to network multiple PCs with 1GB speeds. It was put to the test as our studio had to playback gigs of heavy footage files in real-time for creative editing.
We loaded the 12 drives bays up with 10TB iron wolf which we highly recommend as they were stable and fast. 7 PCs were networked to the NAS and it sustained consistent read/write speeds of around 2500MB/s across our network.
We opted to buy the PCI-E expansion card and outfitted it with 4 M.2 SSDs. (both included) which serve as a local NVME cache and increased read speed for us immensely.
The QNAP software (downloadable from their site) is very good and has many options for backup and remote access.
Also included for free is a CAT-7 Ethernet cable which is quite long and has snaked around a 1100 sq ft studio space.
It weighs about 30lbs so local pickup (Brooklyn, NY) would be ideal to save on shipping.
