in the industry! You can see that Lee had it in him all the time,it just took someone like Darryl to give him the skills to learn Tufa Casting right.
Navajo tufa cast artist "Lee Begay" is a "True Artist" which is what it takes to do the type of jewelry that he is now so well known for.With his work,he is not only a Master Tufa Cast metalsmith,but a painter at the same time..In a relatively short time,he has risen to the top & now like his brother Darryl Begay & cousin "Philander Begay" his jewelry commands respect & top dollar, by creating phenomenal Navajo Reservation depictions of jewelry that can be passed on from generation to generation.His work is highly sought out by only the finest of connoisseurs that collect Native American art that is done in metal form.
DESCRIPTION:
Lee created a masterpiece here, by designing the traditionally dressed Navajo man & woman.
THE NAVAJO MAN:
Wearing his Navajo high hat,Naja Squash Blossom necklace & used for his face is a large trillion cut of Morenci turquoise that has lots of gold-ish & silver pyrite matrix all through it.
THE NAVAJO WOMAN:
The woman is finely designed where you see all the movement of her hair that is tied back in the traditional chignon bun.Lee even drew horizontal lines in the middle of it, that emulates the yarn that is used to wrap the bun! On her ear is an un-textured earring that stands out since it doesn't have the tufa texture like the rest.She also wears a Naja Squash Blossom,her face is of a bright blue chunk of Kingman turquoise.
The tips are long & hefty with crosses on the metal & blue turquoise that are tucked inside the bottom of the tips.(See photo 10 & 6)
The
comfort
strap is long & is made of a thick braided black leather that's about 3/8" round(7 mm).This style strap
seems to last a life time &
are much more comfortable around the neck than the thin ones & are extremely durable.
This has all the wonderful texture from the Tufa stone, which guarantees anything that's made, to be
one of a kind,since the Tufa can only be used once.

Unless the bolo is defective,(which it's not) there is now a 3% charge that will be taken out from the total price you paid..(This applies to buyer's remorse,too big,too heavy,too small,too light,don't like it on me,etc..)
