    Description

We are pleased to offer another RARE, UNIQUE, AND UNUSUAL Primitive Item from our 50 year collection, an Early 18TH Century Wrought Iron Standing Broiler / Spit Rest.  The addition of Spit Rests to the rear leg of this Broiler are evidence of a very, very EARLY Primitive item.  This type of forged Broiler Spit Rest design would be most typical in the 17TH and very early 18TH Century.  The addition of the Spit Rests, also, lead us to believe this is an "AMERICAN" Standing Broiler.  The Standing Broiler face was used to bake flat bread or broil strips of meat, but the added Spit Rests allowed for additional cooking versatilities.  The Spit Rests allowed for roasting game and fowl on the resting spit.
The Standing Broiler is topped with the original ring for hanging purposes, when the Broiler isn't in use.  This Primitive Piece design is very elaborate and UNIQUE.
It is extremely solid, large and heavy.  It is made from thick Wrought Iron, and it will last for many years.
The Ironwork surface and Patina are amazing!  It is in excellent
condition without any type of damage.
The Stand Broiler is being offered in the original as found
    UNT
    OUCHED condition.
    NO restoration or repairs.
    The Broiler has g
reat grungy surface with deep brown patina which means it saw a lot of use.
    Just a wonderful early example.
This is the best Early Wrought Iron Standing Broiler / Spit Rest example we have ever seen in our 50 Years of collecting,
The Standing Broiler / Spit Rest measures 20" Tall, 13" Wide, and the Rear Leg / Spit Rest is 25" Long.  .
This is truly a QUALITY MUSEUM piece based on condition and rarity!
A must have for your Early Primitive Collection!
Over the next few months we will be listing numerous rare and unusual Early American hearth utensils as we downsize our collection of the last 50 years.  If you enjoy collecting early iron, please add us to your saved sellers' list.  I promise you won't be disappointed.  I am not a pro at taking photos.  So please if you don't see a specific feature, please ask us for additional photos, since the photos are part of the description.  Thank you for looking.
Shipping is normally USPS Parcel Ground.  We, also, made USPS priority shipping available, if you would prefer priority.
If you prefer other shipping options/carriers, please advise prior to payment.  We are very flexible.  We may need to substitute UPS/FedEx Groun for USPS Parcel Ground at the time of shipment, because it may be faster delivery or various other reasons.  Please let us know, if you have an issue with the UPS/FedEx Ground substitution.   Thank you.
