    Description

    In good used condition a British P1888 Bayonet with Shortened U.S. M1917 1st Pattern Scabbard also called the Maxim Scabbard, sometime during its life the scabbard was shortened to fit the bayonet. The original scabbard would have measured approximately 17” where this measures approximately 12” which fits perfectly for the P1888 bayonet. The scabbard is olive green leather and metal fittings, the metal is stamped at the back GF in a circle and front bottom tip MS. On the leather back of top is stamped in the leather but very faint G&K over 1917, you can barely make out the letter K and the 2 numbers 17, it is missing the belt hanger. The bayonet is a British P1888 dated 8 93 with other British stamps. A possible marriage of the two by a collector, was purchased as is, would be willing to sell separately.
